SHY United SHY United was conceived as a program that would allow shy people to connect and get to know each other in a safe environment. SHY United is for people who recognize that their inhibitions and introverted personalities are hampering their dating lives. SHY United allows timid people to review their inhibitions and establish themselves anew. SHY United offers forums, chats, newsletters, self-help articles and matchmaking assistance. Nettie from Grand Rapids was relieved to find SHY United. "Most people wouldn't understand this, but I'm 35 and I never went out on a date until I found SHY United. The thought of going out with someone that I didn't know was terrifying to me. Even with SHY United, it took me almost a year until I was ready to go out on my first date, but once I started, each introduction became easier and easier. I haven't met anyone special yet, but at least now I now that I'm capable of dating." Barry from Sommerville reviews his dating life up until he found SHY United. "Meeting new people has always been agony for me but with SHY United, little by little, I have been able to break out of my shell and make some new contacts. So far I've made some friends and nothing more, but believe me, for someone like me, even a friendship is a huge step." Tina from Greensboro tried other sites but whenever anyone would show interest in her, she'd panic. "I'd start chatting with someone, and then I'd freeze. When I couldn't continue any relationships, even online, the sites would receive complaints about me and I'd be booted off. SHY United was the first site where everyone gave me the space that I needed to break out and maintain a relationship." Cal from Tallahassee's main complaint about SHY United is that there aren't enough members from some of the smaller communities. "When I finally felt ready to meet people like those who I'd been chatting with online, I discovered that there really weren't that many members in Northern Florida. Very depressing. I felt as though I had to start building my confidence all over again." Lionel from St. Louis was pleased with the concept but is still waiting to meet the right match. "It makes sense to put shy people together with others who understand their challenges and fears. I find the site itself to be helpful, but haven't really met anyone special through the program. I do have a friend, however, who met his girlfriend through SHY United." |
